Indoor Air Quality / Mold

Mold damages what it grows on, and the longer it grows, the more damage it can cause.

Molds are an essential part of the natural environment. Outdoors, they break down dead organic matter. But indoors, molds are potentially toxic, and their growth should be prevented.

There are many types of mold, and they reproduce by means of microscopic, airborne spores. Mold can grow exponentially in as little as 24 - 48 hours. Mold can start growing indoors when its spores float inside from outdoors and land on surfaces that are damp. Mold is often found in bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and other places where ventilation is insufficient. It can be found on other moist surfaces and areas where humidity from leaks or condensation is present, such as walls and window frames.

Exposure can cause allergic reactions and irritation to the lungs, eyes, skin, nose, and throat in people and pets. Mold can cause respiratory problems in sensitive individuals, and even be the cause of potentially deadly diseases. Some molds, such as Stachybotrys and Aspergillus, can produce toxins called mycotoxins under certain conditions. Exposure to mycotoxins can cause more serious illness. Past, current, and hidden water damage can cause issues with our health and home.

Mold can also gradually destroy the things it grows on, including home furnishings and structural components. You can prevent damage to your home and furnishings, save money, and avoid health problems by controlling unwanted moisture intrusion and eliminating mold growth.

Our indoor air quality / mold inspection is a thorough moisture intrusion inspection of your property. We look for mold that is visible and mold that may be hiding behind your home's finishings and drywall. We use the latest equipment and testing methods, including a thermal imaging camera (infrared) and air sampling to evaluate your property to detect active and prior moisture intrusion. We take several samples of your home's air quality and send them to a qualified lab for analysis with a detailed report sent to you within 48 hours. Your report will tell you if your home has elevated levels of mold, and the type of spores growing. We can recommend DIY solutions for minor situations saving you time and money!
